Sometimes dry hair is caused by over styling, over coloring, and lack of good maintenance care. But, it can also be caused by dietary deficiencies. To strengthen your hair and your health, include vitamin A to act as a lubricant to reduce dryness.
Fatty fish like salmon, herring and mackerel are great natural sources of this vitamin, as well as carrots, red peppers, sweet potatoes, spinach, butternut squash and apricots. Yum!
But think twice about adding vitamin A as a dietary supplement. Too much can have an adverse effect on your body. It’s best to stick to food sources.
Vitamin B5 will help to restore dry hair to a healthy, shiny appearance. It also stimulates the growth and repair of your hair. Snack on nuts in moderation throughout the day and eat eggs, brown rice and liver.
And, of course, a great hair helper is protein as well as healthy fats like olive oil and avocado. Feeding your hair a good diet makes your appearance and our job so much easier!
